The active technology in the Toyota Avalon will help you stay safe. The safety features are a part of a package that is known as the Toyota Safety Sense. You don’t have to worry about drifting lanes again. You will get an alert via the Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist. The steering assist will help guide you back into the right lane. Being able to see at night is one of the keys to staying safe. The automatic high beams will turn on when you drive in an area with little or no light.

The design of your vehicle’s drivetrain is very important. The amount of power that is provided by your engine needs to be transferred to different areas of the vehicle in order to make it move. Your transfer case is located behind your transmission, and it connects to your front and rear drive shafts. With a series of gears and a chain drive system, it’s important that you have your transfer case inspected and serviced as needed.

Transfer cases can work along with a two wheel drive function and four wheel drive function. Power is split between your front axle and rear axle. The wheels will turn in unison. When something is malfunctioning with your transfer case, you will notice a grinding sound when changing gears or the inability to change gears properly.

People often refer to mufflers and exhausts interchangeably. While both parts work closely together, they each serve different functions. We asked our Steet Toyota of Johnstown service techs to break it down. Here’s what they said.

When to Replace Your Muffler

Some experts say mufflers last up to seven years. However, bad road conditions and lots of mileage can wear out a muffler prematurely. If your engine noise becomes pronounced, you smell strong gases from your vehicle or rust appears on the muffler and tailpipe, it might be time to replace your muffler.

The muffler is part of the exhaust system. It dampens the rumble of engine soundwaves, keeping your daily commutes through Johnstown that much quieter. Since mufflers have different lifespans from other components of the exhaust system, your exhaust may require more or less frequent attention.

Introduction to Exhausts

Your vehicle’s exhaust system keeps cabin air breathable and improves engine efficiency. The system works with the engine combustion chamber, collecting harmful engine gases from combustion cylinders. Next, a catalytic converter turns the gases into water vapor and CO2. The CO2 and vapor exit your car through the tailpipe.
